art-quilts

Having learned to sew as a young girl at my grandmothers knee, decades later I was delighted to discover the arena of art-quilting.  My traditional and digital art background blended into this new media in an exciting and inspirational way.   These galleries feature a variety of styles I have experimented with on my way to finding the types of art-quilts I most enjoy creating.

From realistic to whimsical characters my work revolves largely around figurative work.  However, abstract pieces do find their way into my repertoire.

Often my work begins as a drawing or digital art piece before it finds its way into an art-quilts.  The added dimension and texture available in this medium is so much fun to explore, and I enjoy the handwork related to textile pieces.

Many of my art-quilts are translated into fine art prints, making them available to an even larger audience.  I love creating art-quilts based on vintage and modern photographs that I have digitally re-designed.  This type of work is available for commission.

This gallery (bottom left) contains some of my latest quiltart interpretations based on the characters I designed for the A-ha Studio.

Often the ability to laugh at ourselves is a true indicator of just how far we have come...(or overcome the choices we once made).  The A-ha Sisterhood is a reflection of such introspection.  Based on my work in the recovery community and in my counseling practice this ongoing series is dedicated to those who choose to reach beyond the limitations of circumstance to shape the lives they desire.
