I want to extend a heartfelt thanks to those individuals who have purchased my work from galleries and shows. And a special shout out to those who have commissioned pieces. It has been great fun actually getting to know you... and seeing my work in your homes and offices.
I am also very grateful to the interior designers and proprietors of unique shops who make a conscious choice to offer artisan works over mass market pieces. This allows an opportunity for relationships to form between artist and client. I believe this enhances the experience for everyone, and brings an additional intimacy to the work. As one who connects very deeply to the spirit of my surroundings, I strive to bring this perspective to my work for others. I can think of no better way to go through life than connecting deeply with the heart, and then creatively expressing that in my own life, and in the living and working spaces of others.
When someone who is an incredible artist in their own right buys my work for their home it is a special honor! Pictured here with her artwork, Stephanie Lienhard hosts the annual Heights Underground Art Market in Houston. Her personal invitation to include my work in both the Heights show and her new shop, The Sparrow and the Nest, is so exciting.
Working with independent shop owners that support the movement away from mass market design is so rewarding. The opportunity it extends for relationships to form between artist and client is a gateway to soulful creativity and enhances the experience for everyone. Susan

"I have always loved Susan's work, so when my husband and I bought a bungalow in the historic Heights district she taught me about 'artful living' from an artist's point of view; Surrounding myself with artwork that elevated the spirit and reflected the intention and atmosphere I wanted to be wrapped in. She also taught me how to become involved in the creative process itself. My home is filled with such reflections, and many of them are Susan's.
As a professional, my office is filled with Susan's deeply moving, thoughtful paintings and drawings, as well as some of her textile pieces. The comments are endless and I love referring office visitors and friends to her for pieces of their own!" Vickie Longwill, Houston,Texas
"Susan is my go to gal for anything creative. While I own much of her artwork, it is her unique perspective on life that has helped me see my own world differently. Having my intentions and dreams reflected back to me through artwork that moves me is awesome, but having artwork that emotionally and energetically moves me toward those things I strive for is amazing! This is what Susan's work is all about and I LOVE that!" "Art and creativity has always been a very big part of my own life, and sometimes a piece of art just speaks to me. The first time I visited Susan's studio I saw a piece that did just that. Today it hangs in my apartment and brings an energy that resounds with me on a very deep level bringing me joy each time I see it."

Entitled Cactus Moon, this piece was recently commissioned by Samantha Scuili. Requesting something inspired by the cactus and succlents she loves, Samantha gave me the creative license to move between literal and absract designs within this piece. Heavily quilted and beaded, Samantha's joy was reflected when she posed for the picture above, taken when she came to the studio to collect her piece.
